Wellbeing & Partnerships

Ziggy and Turbo
It's been a while since we've given you an update on 2 of our favourite staff members at St Augustine's. Ziggy's training is going exceptionally well. Mrs Taylor and Ziggy can be seen every Wednesday and Thursday morning at the front of the school and doing laps of the oval! Whilst she also continues to provide company for students in the Wellbeing Hub, Ziggy has also been making visits to some of the classrooms. Meanwhile, Turbo has had multiple opportunities of late to prove that he is, in fact, quite fast for a turtle! Turbo's tank is sparkling fresh too - pop into the office for a visit, when you get the chance.
Lunch Clubs!
The Lego Masters have stepped it up a notch this fortnight. Together with Miss N, they made a number of ''Cute Characters", which were very cute indeed. This week the Lego Masters also built homes and haitats. The most popular items on the Wellbeing Trolley of Fun have definitely been the colourful chalk and giant bubbles - these will be needing a weekly top-up! It's been equally as wonderful to see how many children are now using the skipping ropes from the trolley; the improvement has been impressive! The Sports' Captains have continued to support lunch time games which have been held on the basketball court this fortnight. Mrs K and the SRC organised a very special loom band club during one of the lunch times. Lovely footy-themed bands were created by the students and the SRC leaders. Miss Northcott provided a little sanctuary of calm in her Mindfulness Club this fortnight with the fireplace providing an additional touch! Our LOL club is a firm favourite for many, but we really do need a few donations please! Contact the office, if you are able to provide any additional LOLs or other items to the trolley of fun.
Speech Pathology Week
"Communicate YOUR Way"
We recently learned about Speech Pathology Week, which was actually celebrated this week. It was an opportunity for us to stop and think about the different ways in which people communicate. Speech pathologists work with individuals in supporting them to communicate in a way that suits them. This may include using their voices, aided devices or unaided devices (e.g. Auslan).
Happy Families
In this fortnight's newsletter, the new articles we are sharing will hopefully be of interest to many of you. The piece "Getting Along with Siblings", is likely to strike a chord with some of our families. So too, "The Quest for Independence and Identity" is an article that will particularly resonate with parents of children in our senior classes. This particular item provides some helpful suggestions/language to use to foster idependence and critial thinking in our children. If you would like to share any feedback about these articles, please email admin@safranksth.catholic.edu.au
Would you like to be a helper in our school?
At St A's, we really value any additional help from members in our wonderful community. There are a number of ways you can contribute by supporting the staff and children, such as: Excursions, Athletics days, Interschool Sports, Mother's Day/Father's Day events, Cooking & Gardening sessions and so much more! If you are keen to join in, please make sure you have a current Working With Children Check.
