We are very excited to be holding our Father’s Day Stall on Friday 30th August. With over 360 students needing to visit the stall, we will be asking students to bring in their $6 prior to the day. This can be done in the week beginning Monday 26th August through to Thursday 29th August. Please send all money in a clearly marked envelope with your child’s name and class written on the front. Families with multiple children at the school may send all money in a clearly labelled envelope. This will help us to streamline things and ensure everyone gets an opportunity to visit the stall. Our senior students will be running a Toddler Staff from 3:00pm in the Undercover Area on the day of the staff. Unfortunately with our growing student numbers, we will no longer be able to take IOUs from students for purchasing gifts.
Planning for the 2025 school year has begun and this process is quite complex and reliant on accurate and up to date information. Families will have received an Operoo Notification recently regarding your child’s re enrolment for next year. Please ensure you have completed the attached survey by Friday 30th August. We ask any families who are considering moving house or changing their child’s school in 2025, to contact the office. Please be assured that should your plans change, it will in no way affect your child’s placement for next year.
This year we celebrated Book Week in a BIG WAY! Mrs Angela Anderson our Curriculum Leader was the driving force behind the celebrations. We thank Angela for her hard work and dedication in all areas of student learning, including the development of classroom Libraries from which our Year 2 - 6 students can now borrow books to read at home. Below is an outline of the many ways we celebrated book week:
Book Week Books
Book Week is a special time at our school when we celebrate the joy of reading. This year’s theme, “Reading is Magic!”, perfectly matched the books we explored. During our English lessons, we delved into captivating stories and beautiful illustrations from books like Timeless, Paper-Flower Girl and That Bird Has Arms! We had so much fun reading and discussing these stories with our friends.
Dazzling Dan the Magic Man!
On Monday, we welcomed Dazzling Dan the Magic Man to our school. His witty jokes and cool tricks had everyone laughing and captivated from start to finish. The grand finale, featuring a dove, was the perfect end to a magical show that will be remembered by all.
Scavenger Hunt!
On Tuesday, each class participated in an exciting scavenger hunt, where they searched for 12 pieces of a Book Week front cover puzzle. At the end, everyone worked together to assemble the pieces and reveal the cover of the book they had been searching for. A big thank you to the four Year 6 students - Mannat, Noah, Kuat and Ashai, who helped hide the puzzle pieces throughout the day.
Kahoot/Blooket!
Last Wednesday, each class had the opportunity to participate in either a Kahoot or Blooket game, focusing on the St John staff and their favourite books. Everyone had so much fun trying to guess the correct answers!
The Book Parade
Last Thursday marked our very first Book Week parade, and it was a huge success!
A big thanks to all the students and staff for dressing up in such creative and imaginative costumes. The fantastic family participation made the event even more special.
Overall, this year’s Book Week experience has been one to remember. Thank you to all of our students for your enthusiasm, to the staff for your creativity and motivation, and to our families for your amazing support. Successful events like this are only made possible when we all work together.
After qualifying earlier in the year, we had 45 students from Year 3 - 6 compete in the District Athletics last Wednesday. Students had a terrific day, competing against students from schools across the Wyndham district. Everyone is to be commended for the positive way they approached the day, encouraging all competitors and celebrating wins in a respectful manner.

The Linewize platform helps schools, students and families to develop better digital habits, while also monitoring and tracking digital usages. With St John’s now working in partnership with Linewize, our parents have access to an Online Safety Parent Hub, via the school’s website. This Hub has a wealth of tips and information for families.
