NSW All Schools Touch Carnival

On Monday 12th of August, four teams from Kildare travelled to Sydney as a result of winning the Southern All Schools Touch Carnival earlier in the year, to compete in the NSW All Schools Touch Finals on Tuesday in Penrith.

The Years 7/8 Girls Team played six pool games, coming up against Hills Sports School, Pymble Ladies College, Mater Maria, Hunter Sports School, Glen Innes and All Saints Maitland. The girls played some outstanding touch, working hard in both offence and defence and built upon their performance in each game. They demonstrated extremely good teamwork and communication skills throughout the entire day. The girls won 4 out of their 6 pool games, which meant that they qualified for the semi-finals. In the semi-final the girls played Mt St Benedicts and after a tough 20 minutes of touch, the girls lost in a hard fought battle 1-0.

Well done girls, on an exceptional day!

The 9/10 girls faced some stiff competition finishing with five losses and two draws. Despite the strong opposition all girls gave it their best and the school was well represented by their efforts.

The 9/10  KCC Boys came up against a future semi finalist (Maitland) and the eventual winners (St. Augustine's- Brookvale) in their first two Pool matches which obviously proved to be tough challenges, but they acquitted themselves very well in these opening matches despite being on the wrong side of the scoreline and then finished the day with 3 out of 4 wins in their remaining Pool encounters.

This group of Boys possessed a never say die attitude in all their matches and although each of the boys have their own unique individual skills they played extremely well as a Team.  Captain  Diezel Washington was an inspirational leader and his high-quality play in all of our matches rubbed off on his teammates.

We had an even split of 6 players each from Year 9 & Year 10 in our squad which all goes well for next year’s Southern Schools carnival and hopefully again in the NSW Secondary Schools Tournament.

The 7/8 KCC boys were a strong team heading into the competition led by Blair as Captain. They faced off in their first game against Glen Innes winning this game to give them the confidence leading into the next pools. Despite some great teamwork and support, they fought hard against some very strong teams going down in the next few games. All wasn’t lost as they moved into their final game of the day to hold their heads high triumphing over Xavier College, Sydney. The boys were exceptional characters and sportsmen on and off the field. A huge shout out to the parents that assisted and supported on the day.

Netball Stars Shine in NSWCCC Trials

Congratulations to Charlotte Niuila and Emily McPherson on their outstanding performance at the NSWCCC Open netball trials.

Representing our school as part of the Wagga Diocesan Open team, they competed against dioceses from across the state in Penrith last Tuesday.

Charlotte played a pivotal role as a defender, demonstrating exceptional skill and game awareness. Her ability to read the play and intercept passes was instrumental in the team's success. Emily, on the other hand, excelled as a shooter, showcasing her accuracy and precision. Emily worked well with her attacking teammates to create space and set up scoring opportunities.

We are thrilled to announce that Emily has been selected as a shooter for the NSWCCC Open netball team. This is a remarkable achievement that reflects her talent and dedication to the sport. Emily will now compete in a tri-series against CIS and CHS later this month. We wish her all the best as she represents our school and region at the highest level.
