Wow what a year!  It began with the transition from Year 6 – Year 7, Year 7- Year 8, and Year 8 – Year 9 during Advance 2024 and now we have officially said goodbye to Year 9 students who have joined the Senior School as Year 10s in 2025.

I want to thank all students for their hard work throughout the year, I have enjoyed watching you all grow and flourish both academically and as young people, leaders, and members of the community.

2024 highlights include but are not limited to:

  • Camps including City Experience
  • Excursions
  • Incursions
  • Clubs
  • Interschool sports and carnivals
  • Values Assemblies
  • Fundraisers
  • Free dress days
  • Academic achievements across all subjects

I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year.

Look after each other and be kind to each other. Enjoy the company of your families, and be grateful for everything we have throughout this holiday period. I look forward to seeing everyone refreshed, motivated and curious on the first day of term 2025.

Values Assemblies

This week we concluded the year with a number of Values Assemblies for each year level 7 – 9. The focus of the assemblies was to acknowledge Values Award winners from Term 4.

It was also an opportunity for Year Level Coordinators to officially farewell each year level as they transition into 2025 classes.

Orientation Day 2024  - Grade 6 to 7

Tuesday 10 December was a major milestone in our Transition Program for the Year 7 2025 cohort. I would like to congratulate Leanne Kaufmann and the Year 7 team for their hard work and organisation of this event. A huge amount of work goes on behind the scenes to make this day a success. I would also like to thank and acknowledge all staff involved for their efforts throughout the day. There were a number of students who assisted, including class helpers, students performing on stage, and those in the yard who made the new students feel welcome.

I am so proud of the students in Middle School, the College values of teamwork, care and compassion, fairness and respect were certainly on display. We look forward to students returning on Wednesday 29 January when they start their first day of secondary school.

Student Leaders 2024

A massive thank you to all the students involved in leadership throughout Middle School this year. I would like to acknowledge the Middle School Leadership Team for their outstanding leadership throughout this year.

Congratulations and thank you to:

Year 7 EAL Script Writing and Drama Presentations

Over the past four weeks, the Year 7 EAL classes have been working on writing short plays for their final unit of the year. In small groups, students explored a variety of example scripts and then wrote their own pieces based on a visual stimulus. Students then developed acting skills in a variety of areas including voice, face, and body as each member embraced the role of a specific character. The presentations took place in Week 8 of this term. Teachers and students were delighted with the results.

Student Lunches

Just a reminder to parents that we are unable to deliver lunches to students during school time.  It is the student’s responsibility to come and collect their lunch if it has been dropped off at Reception. Hot food is not suitable to be left at Reception.

PLEASE NOTE: Take-away food is not allowed at the College during school hours.  Under no circumstances are students to be ordering take-away food to be delivered to the College.

Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards

Please remind all students that they must carry their Student Compass ID/Library/PTV  Cards with them at all times.

ALL students must sign in with their card at the Middle School Office when they are arriving late and sign out at the General Office when they are leaving early for any reason.

The cards are also used for any student photocopying that is done at school. The EDSC Student Compass ID/Library card can be used as ID for student PTV (Public Transport Victoria) travel. They are required to carry this card as student identification while travelling on public transport.

If a student loses their card, parents/guardians are able to re-order a replacement card via the Compass parent portal.
