The International Student Program – 2025 Student Leaders
In the last week of November, Simon Veerhuis (the International Student program Coordinator), Tim Bourke (Leading Teacher, Student Voice and Agency) and I were inspired by the students who interviewed for leadership positions within the program. Their compassion for other students away from home has motivated their applications and the activities they would like to introduce. They also see the strong need to create confidence so that international students make friends with local students and learn about the Aussie way of life. I am proud of them all and I am excited about working with them in the coming year. Here are some thoughts from them.

Captains
I am Richard and I feel very honoured to serve as your International Captain. As the cohort of international students continues to grow in our school, diversity is being increasingly embodied and embraced through the various cultural backgrounds of our students. The role of leadership is also becoming more and more crucial in fostering student community cohesion, as well as promoting the integration between international students with local students. As a dedicated student stepping into Year 12, not only is being your International Captain an honour, but also the responsibility to be taken on to unite the international students and improve the international student community for the better, and a goal of creating a warm family for international students to find a sense of belonging. Together, under our theme of 'Step beyond our comfort, See beyond our limits', we can make the upcoming year successful and unforgettable.
Once again thank you so much for giving me the great opportunity to be the International Captain. By using my strengths, I will dedicate myself to promoting the College values and improving the international student community.

I'm Amelia and I am Vietnamese. I have been in Australia for 2 and a half years. I have a strong passion for Commerce, and I want to follow Commerce as my future pathway in regard to future education and my career. Being the Captain for International Students in 2025, I am confident to get everyone involved in the activities throughout the year as well as getting international students connected with local students. Furthermore, I will try my best to ensure that I can contribute to help overcome the confusion and anxiety that international students have when they come to the EDSC community.

I strive to bring our welcoming community closer together by supporting those in need through all the fun and exciting activities for everyone to enjoy. In the meantime, I look forward to getting to know each and every one of you, sharing smiles and making unforgettable memories.
