CLASSROOM NEWS
LLLL: This week in reading and spelling we have looked at the sound ‘yoo’ made by the codes, u-e, u, ew, ue. Students have enjoyed exploring this sound, made by various codes. We have also explored ‘o’ saying ‘u’ (u’s first sound) e.g. monkey, honey, oven, son, mother.
Writing:
We have explored the various types of sentences (statements, commands, questions and exclamations). The highlight being exclamations where the students were able to use drama to show exclamation sentences- super fun to watch.
Students have enjoyed working towards completing their procedure drafts - How To Wash A …. And are busily producing a final copy with matching diagrams.
Year 1 teachers are heavily immersed in reading assessments at the moment and are so proud of all the students and the progress that they have made throughout the year.
MATHS: We are revisiting the addition and subtraction strategies using strategies such as counting on from the largest numbers, and doubles .
INQUIRY: Dreamtime Stories identifying the message that is passed down down through generations.

REMINDERS
Please check your child has their hat at school. If not, a green wide brimmed school hat is required. With the stronger UV students without hats are required to play undercover. Hats are also required for PE. ‘No Hat No Play’
