Our Boarder of the Week is Emily Lyne. Emily was a great help at introducing our 2025 Year 7 Mac House girls into the House last week.
Emily started boarding this year and has really found her feet with the support of her Mac House sisters. Wonderful to see Em leading the way with our College values of kindness, empathy and optimism.
In a boarding house, friendship is invaluable. Away from family, students form bonds that provide emotional support, trust, and companionship, which are essential for navigating the unique challenges of communal living. These friendships foster a sense of belonging, creating a “home away from home” where students can share experiences, celebrate successes, and help each other through difficult times. The friendships made in a boarding house often last a lifetime, offering stability and a shared understanding that extend beyond school years. In a setting like this, friendship isn't just a social connection—it's a vital support network and a key to personal growth.
With boarders departing the College this week, there is hardly a dry eye in the house as they begin their farewells. We have some younger boarders who are making the transition from the College, and we wish them every success in their future as well.
I mentioned an old saying this week: "The bigger the base, the higher the pyramid."
College boarding, regardless of how long you've been here, sets you up for success in the future. I look forward to hearing about the achievements of College leavers in the years to come.
