Staffing Information and Updates for 2025

We are thrilled to further announce the following updates regarding returning staff for 2025. It is with absolute delight that we would like to welcome back the following teaching staff as contracts again for next year:

  • Sarah Goodwin
  • Karly Miller

You have all done a fabulous job this year in your respective roles and it is very positive for the school to retain and stabilise teaching staff for 2025.

Congratulations to you both on behalf of our whole school community and we can't wait to work together again next year and further establish continuity within our school.

We would also like to welcome Benita Fagan back to our school next year following a period of Maternity Leave. It will be fabulous having Benita back working at Marion.

We also welcome Caitlin McLaren into the teaching team who will work backfilling Michelle Volaris for the first half of the year and then class sharing with her in Semester 2. Welcome, Caitlin!

We would also like to welcome Michael Laing (SSO ATSI community engagement focused) and Rick Whitehead (ukulele tutor) back again next year. These two gentlemen are highly valued within their respective work and roles at school, and again, this is fabulous to have them back with us next year.

Transition Workshops

Transition workshops began this week, marking the start of a three-week process designed to help students navigate the transition to a new year and a new class. During the initial sessions, students actively engaged in discussions aimed at identifying both the positive aspects and their concerns about the upcoming changes. These workshops provided a supportive environment for students to express their hopes, worries, and any feelings of uncertainty they may have about starting fresh in a new classroom setting. The goal of these sessions is to help students develop coping strategies, build confidence, and foster a sense of excitement and readiness for the challenges ahead. Over the next few weeks, the workshops will continue to guide students through this transition, offering further opportunities for reflection and growth.

SRC Update

The Student Representative Council (SRC) has been actively working to refine the school's Say No to Bullying Action Plan. SRC reps have played an important role in the process, contributing their ideas and insights to shape the plan. It was clear from their responses that the discussions held in classrooms prior to the review process had a valuable impact on their perspectives. The students were aware of the issues surrounding bullying and were eager to share their knowledge.

Next week, staff will have the opportunity to review the updated document, which will be finalised in preparation for the 2025 school year.

This collaborative approach reflects the school's commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students and the SRC’s dedication to making a meaningful difference in the way bullying is addressed within the school community.

Warm regards,
