5/6 Students have been working hard on their Science Projects to present at the Christmas Open Afternoon next Friday the 6th of December!
Our wonderfully inquisitive students have been investigating a myriad of topics from 'Bouncy Eggs', 'The Deepest Depths of our Oceans', 'Animals in Space' to 'Volcanic Eruptions'. Come and learn something new and witness some awesome reactions and displays.
Last week, a group of students in Grades 4-6 partook in an online webinar to learn about how climate scientists use ice cores to help gain an insight into how our climate has changed over the Earth's history. Students investigated ice cores and interacted with a real scientist via zoom.
Here's what some of them had to say:
"The ice core experiment was super fun, learning about the experiment and the different layers of ice. It was fascinating learning about climate change as well." - Vinnie
"Today some students were chosen to participate in a Antarctic webinar where we all got to do heaps of fun and creative activities! We started off with a man telling us all about climate change. Then we moved on to Nicole and Sam taking us on a journey to the Antarctic! We all got to participate in a science experiment where we got to learn about ice cores of the Antarctic snow. It was very fun and we had a blast!" - Sadie
"It was really good and I enjoyed a lot. People think the temp hasn't changed for years, but it has gone up." - Tyler S
"I thought that it was really fun to experiment on the ice core and that it was interesting to learn about climate change." - Paige
"This program was very interesting. We got to learn about how they take the ice cores from the ground and how they processed them. Another thing we learned about was the Hagglands that can only go 40 km/h." - Atlas
The P-1 students have been reviewing life cycles as they watch the development of the super cool tadpoles Ms Wahl got for us!
