INDONESIAN LANGUAGE TRIP

Students Testimonial 

A group of 6 students and 2 teachers from SCSC went to Indonesia for two weeks for the greatest trip ever! We stayed with host families in Lombok for ten days and spent the last couple of days in Bali. 

Each day we went to school at our sister school, SMA1 Mataram, and joined classes. We spent the rest of our time with our host families exploring Lombok visiting Mt Rinjani, snorkelling, strawberry picking, spending the day at Kuta beach, shopping and trying traditional Lombok food. 

It was an amazing experience practicing our Indonesian language, learning about the culture further and stepping out of our comfort zones. It was extremely rewarding for all of us to see the improvement in our language knowledge and confidence. 

The highlights of the trip would definitely be making strong connections with our host families and all bonding together with our host families as a group. It was nerve wracking at the start but once we got closer we didn’t want to leave, on the last day in Lombok we shed many tears.

This was the most amazing, once in a lifetime opportunity and I highly recommend it to students thinking of doing it in the future.  I cannot express enough how amazing and rewarding being a part of this trip was. Staying with an Indonesian family, joining classes at an Indonesian school and going to parts of Lombok that not many foreigners would get a chance to go to was truly an amazing experience that I would definitely do again!
