Education in Faith
33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year B
Gospel Reflection – Mark 13:24-32
In this week’s reading, Jesus tells His friends about some big signs that will happen when He comes again. He describes how the sun and moon will stop shining, and stars will fall from the sky. This might sound a little scary, but Jesus shared these signs to help us remember something very important: He will always be with us, and one day, He will come back to make everything new and beautiful.
Jesus reminds us that no one knows exactly when this will happen, only God the Father knows. But we don’t need to be afraid. Jesus tells us these things so that we can live with hope and be ready by loving God and loving others every day.
Imagine a tree in winter without any leaves. Then in spring, the leaves and flowers start to grow, showing us that life is coming back! In the same way, Jesus wants us to look for signs of His love all around us, like kindness, peace, and joy and to be ready to welcome Him with open hearts.
Discussion Starters:
- What are some “signs of love” that we can see in our lives and in the world?
- How can we help others feel safe and loved while we wait for Jesus to return?
- What are some ways we can share Jesus’ light with others this week?

GRADE 5/6 SOCIAL JUSTICE TEAM – MINI VINNIES
WEEK 7 ASSEMBLY – MINI VINNIES PRESENTATION
I would like to invite the Mini Vinnies parents to our Week 7 Assembly on Friday November 22nd where our Hampton Park Conference President, Sumith and a member Margaret will be attending our assembly to tell the SFS Community a bit about what they do. They will then launch our Christmas Appeal. They will also be presenting the SFS Mini Vinnies with their certificates for being a member this year.
We would also like to thank Sumith and the Conference members as they have supported some of our families through challenging times during the year. Mini Vinnies are closely linked with our Hampton Park Conference and the students know Sumith and Marg well.
COMMUNITY SPIRIT AWARD POINTS
Points this week include points given to students by staff including assisting at the Twilight Market.
The results so far are:
1st | Patrick | 7 792 |
2nd | Teresa | 7 760 |
3rd | Bosco | 6 836 |
4th | Mackillop | 6 710 |
Well done Patrick who are in the lead but the other Houses are close! Remember we still have all of this term, including our Christmas Appeal, so one of the other houses may take the lead.
SFS CHRISTMAS APPEAL
Mini Vinnies are eagerly getting ready for our next major event of the year, the SFS Christmas Appeal. This year each Home Group will be given a family that they are putting together a hamper for. Our Giving Trees will go up in each Learning Space. Mini Vinnies have been busily cutting out Christmas tags for the Giving Tree and labelling Christmas bags for each Home Group.
