Assistant Principal's Update

Hi all,

As we move towards the end of Term 3, our students continue to engage in many exciting opportunities across the school such as camps, excursions, incursions, sporting events and a music assembly. It's been wonderful seeing our students shine as they learn, grow, sing, perform and compete. We thank the teachers and education support staff for all the time, effort and enthusiasm that goes into the planning and the running of these events.

Here is a snapshot of what has happened across the term

  • Gymnastics Program – Foundation to Year 2
  • Mindful Monkey Incursion – Foundation
  • Minibeast Excursion – Year 1
  • Teacher in the Past Incursion – Year 2
  • Camp Angahook – Year 3
  • Camp Jungai – Year 4
  • School Athletics Day – Year 4, 5 & 6
  • Dance & Drama Workshops – Year 5 & 6.

Book Week

Book week celebrations were also a big hit in Week 5 of this term. There was noticeable effort across all year levels on dress up day to come dressed as a character from a book. Harry Potter, Where’s Wally, Cat in the Hat, and Darth Vader were some of the characters on display. Our students were able to show off their costumes in the Book Week parade.

Book Week was also celebrated by the visits of three well known Australian writers of children books which made the week even more meaningful. Thank you to David, our librarian, who organised the following author visits:

  • Foundation to Year 2 – Gus Gordon
  • Yr 3 & 4 – Andrew McDonald
  • Yr 5 & 6 – Gabriella Wang

District Athletics

On Thursday 28th August, a large team of 55 participants from Year 4, 5 & 6 represented CHPS, competing with students from schools within local sports district at Coburg Athletics Track.  Vincent, our PE teacher, was the key facilitator in organising our participating students, and his hours of organisation was evident with all students ready to participate in their individual and relay events. A big thank you to Vince. Students who were successful in their events competed in the Division Athletics Carnival on Friday 12th September

Parent Opinion Survey

Recently, a randomly selected group of parents, received an email inviting them to participate in the annual Parent / Caregiver / Guardian Opinion Survey for 2025.

A reminder to those parents who have received an invitation to participate, that the closing date for the survey is Friday 19th September. For those families who were randomly selected, we hope that you can take the time to participate so that we can gain an understanding of our community’s views and help us shape decisions for the future.

Hats are Back!

Just a reminder that as we move into spring, the time has come for students to begin wearing appropriate hats...broad brim or legionnaires. In line with the CHPS SunSmart Policy, children are now required to wear their hats when playing outside. In supporting this policy, we ask parents and carers to encourage their children to bring their hat every day. We also ask that hats are clearly labelled with their child's name.

A big thank you to all the students who remembered to wear their hats last week! It’s great to see everyone being sun smart and taking care of themselves while out in the yard and during sporting events. Remember, hats are required whenever we’re outdoors, so please keep up the great effort.

End of Term

Today is the last day of term! We will break for the September holidays at 2:30pm.

Have a safe and enjoyable break,
