As part of our extended celebration of Education Week and Book Week this term, students had the opportunity to participate in a Faculty Door Re-design project. Students from Years 7 – 9 spent a few weeks designing a ‘Door’ for a particular faculty, with a focus on reading.
Some amazing collaboration and teamwork yielded incredibly artistic and imaginative designs. The designs were proudly displayed within faculties before being presented at the school assembly. It was a tough competition and the student body voted with cheers as the Science Door took the win.
A huge congratulations to all students who participated.
Another celebration of reading was taking a group of students to our feeder primary schools to read and spend time with Stage 2 classes. It has been so rewarding to continue to strengthen our connections within the community, share a love of reading, and to develop relationships with our future students.
In Literacy and Numeracy classes this term, students have been consolidating their consumer maths skills by calculating percentages, working with budgets and projecting profits to design a small business. Students needed to develop a business plan, write a persuasive pitch, design advertisements and create a “shark tank” proposal.
Congratulations to Nixon who extended himself to create his business product – 3D printed dragons.
Lastly, a reminder that TASC (Teacher Assisted Study Centre) will not be running the final week of Term. It will resume in Week 2 of Term 4.
Wishing our Year 11 and 12 students the best of luck in their preliminary examinations and upcoming HSC examinations; and all students and families a safe and relaxing holiday break.
