Foundation - Year 2
This term, students are discovering the wonderful world of non-fiction! They’re learning that non-fiction texts help us find out real facts about the world around us. We’ll explore how features like headings, labels, captions, and diagrams make information easier to understand. Students will also practise creating their own diagrams and labels to share information clearly with their readers.
This term, students are learning about division through hands-on activities that involve grouping and sharing. They are exploring the difference between sharing items equally and making equal groups to build a strong understanding of how division works. Students are practising efficient counting strategies like skip counting and will explore the big ideas of equal groups, repeated addition, and simple arrays.
This term, students are revisiting Topic 5 Stress Management. Students are learning about different ways to manage their feelings and cope with challenges. They are identifying personal strategies that help them stay calm and positive, and discussing how these skills can support their wellbeing both at school and at home. Through class discussions and activities, students are building confidence in using self-calming strategies to manage stressful situations and contribute to a happy, supportive classroom community.
This week, students are learning that everyone feels stressed sometimes and that’s okay. They are talking about what kinds of things make them feel stressed and noticing how their bodies might feel when that happens. Students are exploring different ways to calm themselves, such as taking deep breaths, talking to someone they trust, or doing something they enjoy. They are also learning how to show kindness and support to friends who might be feeling stressed too.
Students are learning all about how to keep their bodies, minds, and emotions healthy and balanced. They’ll explore healthy food choices, discover how food fuels energy for learning and play, and take part in fun activities that build fitness, strength, and flexibility. Students will practise ways to keep their minds strong, learn about mindfulness and managing emotions, and develop a positive growth mindset.
This weeks students were learning about the food groups and why our body needs different types of food.
