Room 1 Years 3 -6

It’s been a great but busy start to the term, with lots happening across the school. The pace is set to continue with camps, swimming programs, and creative art incursions on the way, giving students plenty of opportunities to learn and have fun. As we move towards the end of the year, we’re also looking forward to celebrating milestones like graduation and our end-of-year events. It’s shaping up to be an exciting and memorable term for everyone! Please remember to keep an eye on Compass for updates and communication about these upcoming events.

Annie

The kids were absolutely wonderful attending Annie! They were so well-behaved in a new setting, showing great appreciation for the event, and it was lovely to see the older students helping the younger ones. Their organisation and attentiveness to adults really stood out. We’re very grateful to the Lions Club for supporting the event, and a big thank you to all the parent helpers and volunteers on the day, it wouldn’t have been possible without you!

Our Learning this term

Non Fiction

In this non-fiction unit, students will be developing their skills by using a range of comprehension strategies (such as inferring, synthesising, asking questions, and making connections) to better understand non-fiction texts. They will explore the features of non-fiction texts, learning how these features serve different purposes and help them locate and interpret information. By engaging with non-fiction texts, students will gain a deeper understanding of the world around them and apply their reading strategies to learn more effectively from a variety of sources.

Fractions/Decimals

In this unit on fractions and decimals, students will be developing their understanding of how these two forms of numbers relate to each other and to whole numbers. They will explore how to represent, compare, and order fractions and decimals, as well as how to perform calculations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.

Social and Emotional Learning

In Topic 8 of the Respectful Relationships program, students will be learning about different forms of violence, including gender-based violence. They will explore how these forms of violence can affect individuals and communities and discuss ways to recognise, prevent, and respond to unsafe or harmful situations. Through guided discussions and activities, students will develop a deeper understanding of respect, equality, and the importance of promoting safe and supportive relationships for everyone. 5/6 Doxa Camp

The 5/6 Doxa Camp to Melbourne is just around the corner, running from the 22nd–24th of October! The itinerary looks fantastic, and I’m really excited. Melbourne Camp was one of my favourite school trips when I was a kid. We’ll be catching an early train on Wednesday morning, and the exact time/location will be shared on Compass on Tuesday. Taylor and I will be the adults attending from Cowwarr, and we’re looking forward to an action-packed few days full of fun and adventure!

Classroom Expectations

Just a gentle reminder that bringing personal items from home to school can sometimes become a distraction for both ourselves and others. We ask that students keep special toys and belongings at home so everyone can stay focused and make the most of their learning time. Thank you for your support in helping us maintain a calm and productive classroom environment.
