TEACHING AND LEARNING

Planning Week:
Last week, teachers participated in a dedicated planning day, taking the opportunity to reflect on teaching and learning programs and to collaboratively plan for an engaging and exciting Term 4. Stay tuned for PLC Newsletters, which will be shared via Compass in the first week of Term 4.
Numeracy:
Over the last two weeks, we have had the pleasure of welcoming Maths consultants Liz and Michael into our classrooms. They have been modeling exemplary maths teaching across the school, giving our teachers valuable opportunities to observe and discuss best practices. Michael and Liz are highly sought-after experts who travel all over Australia to support schools in improving their teaching of problem-solving strategies. For more information, be sure to check out the Love Maths website (link below). There are plenty of fun games there that you can play at home!
High abilities:
Last week, our Young Authors attended their 3rd and final workshop with Miss Moran and Mrs Reid. The workshop was held at the Australian Catholic University Ballarat campus, where they were able to work with university students and have a tour of the campus. They also heard from authors and illustrators Jodi Toering, Carly Milroy and Paeder Thomas & Andy Matthews, learning about what it takes to be an author and practising a range of writing skills with them. Students also completed a communication task with a partner, involving lego building! There was a perfect mix of smiles and expressions of concentration on the day, as our students continued to stretch their writing muscle!
Young Authors will now take part in a celebration day to finalise their experience in the program!
