STUDENT  LEARNING

Celebrations of learning at Lucas Primary School

Year 5 & 6 in Term 3

Throughout this term, students have been immersed in Australian History throughout our Integrated Studies, Reading and Writing learning areas. Students have researched in detail significant historical events that have occurred and shaped Australia to be what it is today. We went on an excursion to the Eureka Centre and learnt about the Eureka Stockade, the Eureka flag, the timeline of when people were allowed to vote and we found out information about the key people involved in the rebellion.

‘It was really fun, and I got to see the Eurkea Flag’ - J.

‘It was great to see history in action when we went to the Eureka Centre.’ - Leon

‘We got to trial voting.’ - Jameson

‘There were interactive screens to help us learn information.’ - Cameron

Following this excursion, we started researching 5 significant events in Australian history that we found interesting for our project.
