Student Learning

Foundation
In writing the preps have been learning how to edit and revise their work to make it more interesting.
Posting letters they've written to Prep G.
During Art students made some gorgeous daffodils!
Learning how to share different amounts between 2 using different strategies.
Year 1/2
Reading - Our class has absolutely loved reading our classroom novel The Giraffe, the Pelly and Me by Roald Dahl! We’ve laughed, imagined, and chatted about the big themes of friendship and dreams. The students became little detectives, using text clues to describe the characters, and then turned into book critics by creating their very own reviews.
Writing - The students have been learning about the features of procedural texts and how to write them correctly. We started with simple steps like cutting an orange, before moving on to the very important Aussie life skill of making a Vegemite sandwich! The students had a great time learning how to give clear, step-by-step instructions.
Maths - Thursday’s Maths lesson was full of excitement — and Skittles! Our focus has been on learning the language of chance. The students explored whether picking a colour was certain, likely, unlikely, possible, or impossible. Safe to say, there were plenty of smiles (and maybe a few sticky fingers too).
Year 3/4
We have been reading 'The Wild Robot' as a class and students were asked to visualise the chapter 'The Garden' and then draw a picture.
Some of our Blitz masters have been mentoring other students when they are stuck on a level.
Year 5/6
Year 5/6 students have been participating in the Martial Arts Therapy (MAT) Program. The MAT Program is an active type of therapy model that uses traditional martial art training techniques, stories, games and metaphors to engage and connect with young people to empower them to learn life skills and better manage challenges and changes in their lives.
The MAT Program:
- Supports students with recognising their emotions.
- Provides them with strategies to express their emotions appropriately.
- Demonstrates positive ways in which to negotiate and resolve conflict.
- Enables and supports students to become more resilient, confident and adapt/adjust to changing and different situations.
