Industry Tour of Narrandera Hospital and Ambulance Station

27th August 2025

Recently a small group of our Year 9 students had the opportunity to attend an industry tour at the Narrandera Hospital Facilities as well as the Narrandera Ambulance Station.

Students were able to participate in hands on activities, speak with guest speakers from Three Rivers Health, Grow Our Own as well as the MLHD staff from the many areas of the hospital who all shared their career journeys and their expert knowledge.

Students then went to the Ambulance Station and had a tour and close look at the facilities and equipment both in the station as well as the set up in the back of the Ambulance vehicles. Our local paramedics shared their knowledge and passion for their careers and answered student questions.

We wish to thank Katie Pastro of Grow Our Own who coordinated this event along with

Laura Strano of Three Rivers Health and our local MLHD Narrandera Hospital staff along with our local Paramedics for this amazing opportunity and insight into the many varied health careers.

Thank you, Mrs O’Mahoney who stepped, in for me and took our students on the excursion.

Industry Tour Hutchins Bros Engineering

29th August 2025

A group of our Year 9 and Year 10 students had the opportunity to attend an industry tour of the extensive facilities and workshops at Hutchins Bros Engineering.

Students were provided with an overview of the many career options at Hutchins Bros and in the industry in general and were then taken through the process from start to finish.

From the tender process, design and schematics phase of engineers drawings, to the commencement and meticulous order in the way the various jobs are manufactured in the workshop, the quality control and data recorded for every component, the welding and production process of the various stages all coming together, before the blasting and painting phases and finally the delivery to the rigging crews on the ground at building sites across NSW and Victoria! All made here in Narrandera! Wow!

We wish to thank Katie Pastro of Grow Our Own as well as Heidi Hutchins and Rebekah Beer of Hutchins Bros Engineering for the chance to explore the metal fabrication and engineering industry in detail and to see firsthand the phenomenal career opportunities within our own community.
