Grade 2 Report

Did you know that forces are all around us?

They involve push and pull, gravity, and even magnets! In our Science unit, the Grade 2 children have been busy exploring how forces work.

Last week, we focused on push and pull by building car launchers using shoe boxes and elastic bands. Students discovered that the greater the force behind the car, the further it travelled.

It was a fun, hands-on way to bring science to life!

Thoughts from our students about the activity:

Nika: “I liked that all of our launchers were different.”

Rose: “I liked how we got to make them.”

Bea: “I liked how we got to pull the car back and let it go.”

Penelope: “I was surprised at how far the cars went.”

Otis: “I really liked making the launcher.”

Nicholas: “It was fun testing how far the cars go.”

Lucia: “It was fun measuring it with our hands.”
