Our Junior Choir proudly took part in the Arts Unit's statewide combined concert, "InConcert," held at the iconic Sydney Opera House. It was a memorable experience performing on such a prestigious stage.

Congratulations to Carl, Omar, and Jun, who represented the school at the Showcase event at Souths Juniors. They captivated a packed auditorium with a beautiful song performance. The JJ Dancers also shone at this event, presenting two amazing routines that had the audience cheering enthusiastically.

A significant highlight this term was the Bayside Spring Fair, held on a sunny Saturday. Many of our groups performed brilliantly throughout the day. Stella, Ciara, Gale, Princess, and Shastine’s band played a fantastic set of songs that entertained the crowd. Zach impressed everyone with two powerful performances, including a rocking cover of Black Sabbath. The event’s finale featured Joanna, Vayia, Blake, and Alekai playing soulful Stevie Wonder hits, leaving the audience buzzing with excitement.

In curriculum highlights, Year 10 students have completed an engaging classical music unit, while Year 9 explored the rich sounds of Baroque music. Meanwhile, Years 7 and 8 have been developing their skills on guitars and keyboards, learning to play rock music.

Well done to all our talented students for their hard work and dedication!

This term has been an exciting one for the Visual Arts faculty, with many opportunities for our students to engage in rich and meaningful creative experiences.

As part of the C3 West program, our students participated in a workshop at school with artist Dennis Golding. This inspiring session allowed them to explore their own stories and ideas through visual imagery. The program continued with an excursion to the Museum of Contemporary Art, where students engaged with contemporary practices and deepened their understanding of art in the world today. We are especially looking forward to seeing Dennis Golding’s upcoming installation on the foreshore of Kamay Botany Bay later this year, which will feature imagery created by our students as part of this collaboration.

The end of Term 3 also marks a significant milestone for our Year 12 Visual Arts students, with the completion and submission of their HSC Bodies of Work. This represents many months of dedication, creativity, and perseverance. We congratulate all of our students on their extraordinary efforts and extend our gratitude to their teacher, Ms. McInnes, for her tireless guidance and support throughout the process.
