CCOCA PNG Boarding Dinner

The Boarding House hosted a dinner on Tuesday 16 September, organised and decorated by Jemimah Pala (Year 12) and the PNG students. 

The evening celebrated the rich culture and history of the island nation, recognising the 50th Anniversary of PNG Independence from Australia. Highlighting the long ties with Clayfield College and PNG, the event included a presentation of a carved shield from Old Collegian Hilda Minado (Class of 1999) and her husband Elijah Maidala. 

Mrs Rhonda Lynch and Mrs Lyn Swann have been instrumental in supporting Hilda and the Kitava Primary School with funds and supplies since 2016, and they presented the shield to the Boarding House on behalf of Hilda and Elijah. Mrs Pam Hodgetts, Head of Boarding when Hilda was at Clayfield College, and her husband David, along with Mrs Deidre Brandon (Class of 1957 and part of the Bonney Avenue Uniting Church Kitava Fundraising Committee) were special guests on the night.  

Several family members of the PNG students as well as members of the SLT attended, and enjoyed the island inspired menu, photo slideshow and colourful fashions of the night!
