Our chickens need your help!!!

If you can be a chicken check in person over the holidays, please let me know when you are available. Checking on the chickens involves making sure they have water and food and you get to collect any eggs! Send me an email with your availability and I will put together a roster of helpers.

Boys to the Bush program.

This term we had a small grop of students participate in the Boys to the Bush program. Over five weeks they- went to the Boys to the Bush farm to complete some jobs such as chopping and carting firewood, they went fishing, visited some local workplaces such as McKern Steel and DeArougo and Lea, had a tour of the fire station a police station, played soccer and basketball, enjoyed BBQ lunches, pizza and icecream, all while learning about supporting each other and upholding the Boys to the Bush values of Enagagement, Respect and Community.

We are grateful for the sponsorship offered by Agnico as it signifcantly reduced the cost of the program for us.

Time to return all Library books please!

If you could all please have a big search at home and find any school library books and return them next week. Julie will be doing the last library tidy up for the year and we need all books back safe on their shelves. Thank you!

Last assembly Thursday 18th 8:45am.

Our final assembly for the year will be hosted by 4K and will be Di Kennedy's last assembly as she is retiring. It has been a pleasure to work with Di, she is an excellent educator, supportive of students, families and her colleagues. I know that many of you will have either been taught by Di, and/or Di has taught your child/ren and you know all too well what a legend she is. Di will be greatly missed, however she has well and truly earned a long and happy retirement filled with all the things she loves! You rock Di!!!

Other staffing news-

Cate Burns, our Student Wellbeing officer is also finishing up with us at the end of the year. Thank you Cate for all the support you have offered our students and families over the last two years. We wish you all the very best Cate!

We will be advertising the Student Wellbeing officer position early 2026.

Daniel Halliday, our gardener this year, is also finishing up at the end of the year. Thank you so very much Dan for taking on the role this year. It has been exciting to see garden areas getting a revamp and for students to be enjoying the way you have approached the gardening sessions. Thank you Dan!

Chelsea Petersen will be our gardener for 2026. Chelsea has been a garden educator in Early Learning Centres and worked as a gardener/groundskeeper at a property in new Zealand. Chelsea has spent two days this week at our school for a hand over with Dan. She is very excited to be joining us and can't wait to get started!

This is our last newsletter for the year, a massive thank you to all our staff for their commitment to supporting all our students and families. Thank you to all of you for choosing to be part of our lovely school community and for working with us to help your children achieve their best. We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 28 January with all our students, including Foundation students, starting on that day.

Have a great summer break everyone, stay safe and be kind to each other.

Date to add to your diary-2026 Wednesday 28 January all students start school.

warm regards,

Carolyn.
