Highlights from the end of year concert
– Miss Maria, Performing Arts Teacher
Last Friday 12 December, the PMPS community gathered on the basketball court for our annual end-of-year concert.
Over the past few weeks, teachers and students worked together to choose, sing and choreograph a song (or two) – some with Christmas themes and some without. Friday turned out to be a very warm concert day, with classes performing for one another in front of our school community. Each double class excelled in singing, dancing … and having a great time!
Modern Choir kicked off the concert, and all too soon our graduating Year 6 students brought it to a close, sharing the mash-up songs from their ceremony the night before. The colours, sounds and synchronicity of each performance were a testament to the time and effort that went into the preparations. The result was joyful, sparkling, exuberant and altogether delightful.

Thank-you to all our teachers and support staff who put considerable effort into making concert day an inclusive experience from planning to performance, and for the time it requires. The children really owned their performances!
Thank-you to our devoted helpers:
Your gifts of time and effort made an otherwise huge job very easy!
Thank-you to Joe and Miss Natalie for providing and operating your sound system, and to Mr C who worked together with Natalie on the soundtracks. We really appreciate this substantial contribution and the difference it makes to concert sound, and acknowledge the time required for both; and another thank-you to Mr C for operating sound for us.
Thanks, Mr Cain, for once again stepping up to the MC mic, responding to the ebb and flow of concert items and adding a little banter along the way.
And finally, thank-you to our much-appreciated school community – mums, dads, siblings, grannies, grandads and special friends – thanks for giving of your valuable time to being our wonderful audience. Your encouragement and willingness to get involved through singing along with our songs as well as the (already mentioned) help given for set up and pack-up was noticed and appreciated by students and staff alike today (see student reflections below). We are immeasurably blessed to have a school community that cares and encourages in these ways.
A fun time was had by all, so let’s do it again next year!

I really liked it - all the dress-ups and all the songs. And I like that everyone put in the effort even if dancing and singing was not their strong suit.
SHYLEE I: 4D
I liked the end when Mr Cain was saying 6-7, and I liked that it was really entertaining and everyone was joining in … and NO-ONE GOT BORED!
SASKIA C: 4D
I liked all the songs and that the actions were different even though some songs were similar. I like how entertaining it was, even though it was very hot. I like sharing it with my friends, too.
OLIVIA S: 4D
I liked how some songs were mixed with another song to make a mash-up … it was surprising!
HEIDI A & OLIVIA H: 4D
We loved watching the Preps perform for their first time, and the encouragement that the rest of the school gave them.
HARPER R: 4D
The show was amazing. I loved watching the Preps perform, and it was so much fun performing too … although a little bit intimidating. But I can’t wait until next year’s concert!
GRACE W: 4C
When I got on stage I had so many butterflies in my stomach. When the music started and I began to dance, everything breezed by. It was an amazing show!
LACEY E: 4D
I really liked the concert because it was super cute when all the Preppies were performing … they sang more loudly than some older grades which was truly amazing. It was very entertaining and funny.
ARCHER M: 4D
I think the concert was amazing because a lot of classes combined two songs. The Preppies did and amazing job.
PHOEBE S: 4C
It was very enjoyable watching all the year levels performing, and performing myself. My favourite was the Preppies because they not only put in lots of effort, they also managed to project their voices. This year’s Christmas Concert was by far my favourite, and it had the best weather.
INDI B: 4C
I loved this year’s Christmas concert … I think it might be the best one yet. I enjoyed all the classes singing, but I liked the Preps the most. Their faces were very funny because some of them didn’t know what they were doing!
THOMAS B: 4D
I really enjoyed watching all the grades perform, but this year I missed the teachers’ song … I hope they bring it back next year! I also enjoyed performing myself.
IVY F: 5B
I loved seeing all the classes dance. They did such a great job in their classes together. The rap performance from 4AB was my favourite!
CASSANDRA W: 5C
I loved how the preps remembered their dance moves and the lyrics to the songs, even though it’s their first time performing in a school concert.
HUDSON H-B: 2B
I liked singing and dancing on the stage. I’m grateful that Miss Maria and team built the stage for us.
DERMOT M: 2D
I was shocked when lots of people in the audience sang along with us. It felt very good when we were all singing together. Thank-you everyone for coming (from Hudson, too) and have a nice holiday!
LAURA T: 5D
I really loved the experience of getting up there and doing our dance. And I really loved showing and sharing our hard work! Everyone looked really amazing in their costumes, and it was fun that we all ‘got into it’ together.
EMILY D: 5C
I’ve never been in a Christmas concert before and it was way better than I thought. I was not expecting much, but I really enjoyed the liveliness and the community effort – joining in with the songs and cheering us on.
