2025 Wrap Up
It’s hard to believe we are already in Week 8 of Term 4! The term and the year have been flying by, and Stage 1 have continued to work hard and stay engaged in their learning as we head towards the end of the year. We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank our parents and carers for their ongoing support. With Christmas and the holidays just around the corner, the Stage 1 team wish all our families a very Merry Christmas and a happy, safe holiday break.
Stage 1 have been continuing their work on narrative structure, with a focus on making their stories more interesting for the reader. Students have been experimenting with 'sizzling starts,' 'dynamic dialogue,' and 'show, don’t tell' to add detail and excitement to their writing.
InitiaLit lessons continue four times a week, alongside daily spelling revision to support confidence with phonics and spelling patterns. In reading, students are working on developing fluency, expression, and strong comprehension skills to help them better understand and discuss what they read.
Our maths groups will be finishing up soon, and it has been wonderful to see how much students have grown throughout the year. Working in differentiated groups has allowed students to access learning at the right level, build confidence, and engage in activities that target their specific needs.
Teachers have seen great progress in number sense, problem-solving, and mathematical reasoning. Students have enjoyed the routine, structure, and variety that maths groups provide each week.
We are proud of the effort and enthusiasm students have shown throughout the year!
