Deputy Principal's Message

Welcome to Week 8.
Craft Club
Every recess, students from K-6 have the opportunity to participate in our craft club, run by Mrs Wassman in the hub. The club provides a quiet space for students to spend their recess with friends while working on a particular craft, knitting, drawing, colouring or painting project. Last term, craft clubers created a collaborative mural to display at the BVPS Creative Arts Showcase. Students from craft club have also been known to produce some fantastic creations with large cardboard boxes and members of the S1 Drama Group have been taking the opportunity to create props for their performance piece. We also provide puzzles for students who are avid puzzlers.
New members to the BVPS Craft Club are always welcome and donations of any arts and crafts items are always very much appreciated.
Social media age restrictions
From 10 December 2025, many social media platforms will be required to prevent Australians under 16 from creating or maintaining accounts on certain age-restricted services. The changes aim to protect children from pressures and risks they can be exposed to while logged in to social media accounts.
The eSafety Commissioner is leading the implementation of the law. They are responsible for identifying platforms and supporting the community with information and resources. Under-16s will still be able to see publicly available social media content that does not require logging into an account. There are no penalties for young people who use age-restricted platforms or for their parents and carers as the responsibility is with the platforms.
We encourage you to access eSafety’s resources and support for families on their website and register for one of the upcoming webinars for parents and carers.
Further information can also be found on the eSafety Commissioner's social media age restrictions hub.
