2025 Wrap Up

Another incredible year wraps up at Mount Alvernia for our Co-curricular program! Thank you to all our students for getting involved in something new. Thinking back to the start of the year, I shared with students the story of ‘Putricia’ who was the corpse flower that bloomed for the first time in 15 years in January at Sydney Botanical Garden. With queues out the door and a livestream on ‘Putricia’ as she bloomed, I asked students to reflect on the uniqueness of themselves and what their legacy would be this year? What could they do or be a part of that may create the same joy that ‘Putricia’ did for a lot of Australians? As always, our students delivered. They showed up, found belonging, enjoy each other’s company and won some trophies along the way. Check out the 2025 Yearbook for a full run down of all our events this year!

We finished the year with our Term 4 MUN at Mt A which was festive and successful. Students debated whether or not we could use the resources in the North Pole or if Santa owned this land. They discussed environmental exploitation and the human rights of elves… But the question was posed: Can they really be human rights?

We also hosted our 2025 Debating Workshop to begin preparation for our 2026 Debating season. Students had workshops with teachers and our coaching staff to give them a head start for next year.
