PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

EXAMS:
This week, Year 12 finished their VCE exams. Speaking with the students most were happy with their exams and feel reasonably comfortable. Exam results come out the second last week of term and am wishing them all the best.
Over the course of the week Year 11 students have been doing their exams. While this assesses their current knowledge it is also an important precursor and practice for their Year 12 exams giving them an idea of what is required to complete a three hour written exam.
VALEDICTORY DINNER:
This is being held toight, Friday 21st, at the Kerang Memorial Hall. A Valedictory dinner is a tradition marking the end of secondary school. It’s more than just a formal event—it’s a rite of passage. Students gather with their families, teachers, and peers to celebrate the journey they’ve completed and the future ahead. It’s a night of reflection, recognition, and joy.
The evening is also a chance for students to step into adulthood. They exchange their school uniforms for elegant attire:
- Suits and ties for the gentlemen.
- Dresses and gowns for the ladies, showcasing individuality and style.
This transformation symbolizes the shift from adolescence to young adulthood, as students present themselves with confidence and pride.
Parents are invited to share in this milestone, making the evening deeply meaningful. Together, families:
- Celebrate achievements both academic and personal.
- Reflect on growth from the first day of school to graduation.
- Enjoy dinner and speeches that highlight the unique journey of each graduating class.
It’s a rare moment where students and parents sit side by side, acknowledging the hard work, resilience, and support that brought them to this point.
TEXTBOOKS NEXT YEAR:
As the Department of Victoria implements Curriculum 2.0 across all domains in 2026, KTHS has reviewed our learning resources to ensure they best support our students and families. In an effort to reduce costs for parents, we are pleased to advise that students in Years 7–10 will not be required to purchase textbooks for 2026. As a result, parents will be unable to sell or supply second-hand textbooks for Years 7–10.
Please note that Year 11 and Year 12 students will still be required to purchase textbooks for their VCE/VPC studies. We are currently finalising the 2026 Curriculum and elective allocations. Booklists will be distributed once student course allocations have been confirmed in the coming weeks.
Thank you for your ongoing support as we work to provide high-quality, accessible learning for all students.
Principal, Dean Rogers
