Foundation Kids say thanks...
What a most wonderful afternoon it was last Friday, in the beautiful Melbourne sun,
where the Foundation students had an opportunity to say thanks to their buddies for 2025. A great picnic, organised by the Foundation parents, was enjoyed by all who were in attendance. Food, drinks, games and a Gift Bag were all part of the celebrations as to what makes our school a pretty special place. Thanks to everyone involved.
Year 1
This week we started learning about Advent and what it means. The children created their own wreaths. We also decorated our Christmas tree and our classroom ready for the Christmas season. It looks fabulous!
Year 2/3
Dear Families,
We had a wonderful week filled with choir practice for the carols, the continued creations of the Bee-bot tracks or dances, writing poems, reading the class novel Charlotte’s Web and Christmas arts and crafts. As well as many other fun activities, as we come to the end of the term and year we are having a lot of fun. This photo sums it up I think. Have a great weekend!
Year 3/4
Advent
As we approach the birth of Jesus, the students have been learning about the Jesse Tree.
Jesse is the father of the Jewish king, King David. The tree has many branches and as the students learn about the tree, they are learning about the different people in the Bible, such as Abraham, Moses, Joseph, Ruth, Jacob, King David, Zechariah, Elizabeth, John the Baptist and Mary and Joseph. Christians believe that Jesus Christ is the new branch which is a sign of new beginnings and new life.
Bee-Bot Writing
My group created a racetrack with lots of turns. Vlamin and Olivia were racing the beebots. This is how the race went. ‘And we are off with Olivia taking a head start. On turn one Vlami collided with Olivia and broke the fence at turn 1. Then the beebots needed to be put back on track. After a few complex turns they were in the tunnels and Vlami took the lead. The next turn took them onto the bridge and they crashed again. Vlami continued in the lead but soon they were neck and neck and at the final turn Vlami won.

For inquiry we were programming beebots and had to make a racetrack an obstacle course or a dance. My partner and I did a race track. At the end of the track we built a wall for the Beebot to crash into. We used Jenga blocks and rulers and made a bridge using books and rulers.

Year 4/ 5
As we get closer to the end of the year, some of our Year 5 students have been thinking about next year and how they would like to help lead the school in 2026. We look forward to hearing from them over the next couple of weeks or so.
Thanks to all our families who attended the Christmas Carols this week, where the Year 4/5 students sang a number of carols, including Silent Night which was performed in Auslan.
Year 5/6
In 5/6, we've been busy with Art every Friday with Ann.
Two artists we've studied this Term are Paul Klee and Yayoi Kusama.
Paul Klee
Paul Klee was a famous Swiss-born German artist who painted in various styles, including cubism, expressionism and much more. Our artworks were inspired by Paul Klee's cubism art style. What we did was we all drew random shapes in random places and filled them with pastels and the background with watercolors. Thanks to Paul Klee we were able to make these wonderful artworks! Gail C.
Yayoi Kusama
Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese artist known for her use of bright colors, polka dots, and patterns in her artworks. She creates paintings, sculptures, and rooms filled with mirrors and lights that make people feel like they’re standing in endless space. One of her most well-known designs is her big yellow pumpkin covered in black dots. Kusama’s art is unique and eye-catching. We’ve made some pumpkin artwork for Halloween in Yayoi Kusama’s style, and we had lots of fun. Allie Tran
