I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has borrowed a book, or many books, from the library this year.  We have such a wonderful library with so many books, and I get excited when I see students reading for pleasure.  There are over 20,000 books in our library, so there really is something for everyone.

“Reading is the gateway for children that makes

all other learning possible.” – Barack Obama

So far this year we have had 14,066 books borrowed by students and staff, we have added nearly 500 new books to our collection, watched for nine months the growth of a Northern Royal Albatross on our big new screen, listened to a ranger from New Zealand answer student’s questions about the Royal Northern Albatross, had a terrific National Simultaneous Storytime, and investigated old fashioned toys during library sessions.

It is now nearing the end of 2025 and so it is time to return your library books.  Week 7 will be the last week of borrowing for all students which will enable us to track down those cheeky lost books.  Notices will be sent home prior to the end of the year so that you know which books need to be returned to the library.  It would be appreciated if you could check all the hidey places that books seem to like – between couch pillows, under beds, in the car under seats, hiding in your own bookshelves, and in other siblings’ bedrooms.  Please talk to me before you pay for any missing books, as there may be options other than paying for them or they may even have been misplaced at school or in the library.

Thanks to all of you that have purchased books through the Scholastic Book Club.  You have contributed over $800.00 of books for the library through the rewards given to the school based on your orders.  Thanks again.
