Student Engagement

Reflecting on GEM Day and Supporting Our Learners

Our school came alive with colour, connection and celebration for GEM Day, a joyful event highlighting the values of Gratitude, Empathy and Mindfulness. It was wonderful to see so many students and families participating in the assembly, scavenger hunt and classroom activities. These shared moments remind us of the importance of pausing to notice the good, showing care for others and being present in each moment.

A heartfelt thank you to all families who joined us and supported the day. Your involvement helps strengthen our community spirit and reinforces these wellbeing principles at home.

Maintaining High Expectations

As we approach the final weeks of the school year, it is natural for students to begin feeling tired and ready for the holidays. This is also a key time to help them maintain focus, motivation and pride in their efforts. Families can support by:

  • Encouraging children to finish the term strong and celebrate progress
  • Keeping consistent routines at home, including set bedtimes and organised mornings
  • Talking about the importance of kindness, effort and responsibility in all settings

By maintaining high expectations and recognising positive behaviour, we help students end the year feeling confident and accomplished.

Preparing for Transitions

As the end of the year approaches, students start thinking about new classes, teachers, and routines for 2026. This can evoke mixed emotions, such as excitement, curiosity, or uncertainty, all of which are completely normal. You can support your child by gently discussing:

  • “What are you most looking forward to in your new class?”
  • “Is there anything that feels a bit tricky or new?”
  • “What helps you feel calm or confident when things change?”

These small, reassuring conversations build resilience and help children view change as a positive step forward.

Thank you for your continued partnership in supporting your child’s wellbeing and learning journey. Together, we are helping our students finish the year with gratitude, empathy and mindfulness, ready for the exciting transitions ahead.

Warm regards,

Bianka, Vicky and Vira
