Dear Parents and Carers

The week before Advent is known as the Week of Christ the King, following the Solemnity of Christ the King, celebrated on the last Sunday of the Church year. This feast honors Christ's authority as King of the universe and ends the liturgical calendar.

It is a time for Catholics to reflect on Christ's eternal reign and prepare for Advent, the start of a new Church year. This week encourages a deeper focus on Christ as the center of life before the season of hope and anticipation for His birth and return.

The Advent season will begin next  Sunday November 30th  in the Catholic Church.  Advent is a time of waiting, a time to prepare to celebrate the coming of Jesus celebrated at Christmas. It is a time also to consider what the presence of Jesus, the Christ, means to us today. Advent encompasses the four Sundays and weekdays leading up to the celebration of Christmas and it is a time of preparation for our hearts and minds for the anniversary of the Lord's birth on Christmas.

The next two seasons of the liturgical year are:

Advent - (which begins next Sunday November 30th) a period covering the 4 Sundays before Christmas during which we prepare to celebrate Christ’s birth and anticipate his coming again at the end of time. The liturgical colour for Advent is violet.

Christmas - the season of Christmas celebrates Christ’s birth and early manifestations. It runs from 25th December until the feast of the Baptism of the Lord on the Sunday after 6th January. The liturgical colour for the Christmas season is white.”

School Christmas Carols 2025 – Parent Information 🎄

Dear Families,

We are excited to invite you to our annual School Christmas Carols celebration. This special event brings our school community together to share the joy of the festive season and celebrate the wonderful efforts of our students.

This year, our School Christmas Carols will be held at Mercy College Coburg, 760 Sydney Road, in their beautiful large hall. Due to our growing numbers, it’s no longer possible to accommodate all families in the church or our own hall. Being outside is always a risk in Melbourne’s unpredictable weather, so this venue allows us to gather comfortably and celebrate together.

It’s a wonderful opportunity for us to come together, share the Christmas spirit, and enjoy the joy and warmth of the season as a school community. We are really looking forward to celebrating with everyone.

Date: Thursday, 11th December Time: 7 pm start Location: Mercy College, Coburg - Entrance 2 (720 Sydney Road)

Students have been working hard to prepare their carol performances, and we look forward to seeing as many families as possible join us for this joyful evening.

Important Information

  • Students should arrive by 6:30 pm, meet their class teacher in front of the hall, and be seated first.
  • Parents will remain outside until 7 pm.
  • Teachers will send home information about what to wear.

School Closure Day -November 28th

Remember Friday November 28th is a School Closure Day. On this day the teachers will be preparing plans for 2026. If you require care for your child please enrol with Theircare as soon as possible. They will open only if there are sufficient numbers.
