Year 10 Work Experience: A Week of Growth and Success
In the last week of Term 2 over 75 of our Year 10 students participated in the Work Experience program, and what an incredible success it was! From local businesses and schools to healthcare, retail, construction and creative industries our students stepped out of the classroom and into the world of work—embracing new challenges with maturity, curiosity, and professionalism.
Work experience is a valuable opportunity for students to explore potential career paths, develop essential employability skills, and gain a deeper understanding of the working world. For many, it’s their first taste of responsibility beyond school, and it’s a chance to build confidence, independence, and real-world knowledge.
We are proud to say that our students represented the school exceptionally well. Employers consistently praised their positive attitudes, eagerness to learn, and respectful behaviour. Many have even expressed interest in welcoming future students—and a few were so impressed they offered part-time roles!
Just some of the feedback received from employers:
“a pleasure to have”
“attentive and highly capable”
“completed tasks to a very high standard”
“great attitude and was always willing to assist”
“displayed great initiative and willingness to help in everything”
“has been amazing, keen to learn and has a positive attitude”
“very diligent with the tasks assigned and was incredibly patient with the students”
A heartfelt thank you goes to our dedicated Year 10 Learning and Wellbeing Leader Jacinta Wilson and all Year 10 teachers for assisting students prepare for their placement, going out onsite to visit students on placement or contacting them at their worksite. Their efforts were instrumental in ensuring a smooth and successful week for all involved.
Congratulations to our Year 10s for making the most of this opportunity—you have done yourselves and the school proud!
