Principal's Report

 Principal - Julie Hommelhoff

Assistant Principal - Jacob Johnson

Hello to everyone, and welcome to Term 3. It was nice to talk with our students upon their return la Monday. I thank staff and students for starting Term 3 with such enthusiasm and organisation. Supporting your colleagues / friends, students and families in all areas of our school is so important. The teamwork, resilience and attention to one another was amazing to see.

A special welcome back to Ms Bradley as she stays with 1 / 2 A as the classroom teacher. Ms Slater will stay with 1 / 2 B as their teacher. It is great to have such skilled teachers supporting our 1 / 2 students and their families.

We welcome Lachlan H and Maddie P as they increase their time fractions at ETRPS as Education Support Staff members in our classrooms, supporting our students and their programs. Lachlan and Maddie will join the 1 / 2 team.

We welcome many news students as they start at ETRPS - Amy, Stella, Gurri, Andre', Amazon, Azarius, and Ariah. We hope you enjoy the programs and make many friends in the coming weeks.

Thank you to our school community for the nicest of Principals' Day. Jacob and I were treated to a beautiful morning tea, received lovely presents, loved viewing our portraits drawn by each and every student and some staff members. What a nice way to end a great week :)

We wish Jacob and his family all the best for a safe arrival of their second child. Jacob will be on leave for six weeks. Take care and we hope to have cuddles soon.

Warm Clothing

 Winter is upon us. Please ensure your child/ren has their jumper, polo and or coat with them to keep warm where needed. Please name all items of clothing. We have several jumpers and jackets in lost property already.

New Curriculum

The Department of Education and Training have introduced new content that is mandated to teach under the heading of Resilience, Rights & Respectful Relationships (RR&RR).  You will encounter information coming home to introduce the topics currently. We have experienced some questions in regard to the content and encourage you to contact your classroom teacher, myself or Jacob for clarification. This content links directly to the Child Safe Standards (CSS) and is in full view for you to Google and read about. Please go to the DET website for further information https://www.vic.gov.au/respectful-relationships

Program background provided;

The Royal Commission into Family Violence identified the critical role that schools and early childhood education have in creating a culture of respect to change the story of family violence for future generations.

In 2016, respectful relationships education became a core component of the Victorian Curriculum from foundation to year 12, and is being taught in all government and Catholic schools and many independent schools.

Everyone in our community deserves to be respected, valued and treated equally. We know that changes in attitudes and behaviours can be achieved when positive attitudes, behaviours and equality are embedded in our education settings.

Respectful Relationships is about embedding a culture of respect and equality across our entire community, from our classrooms to staffrooms, sporting fields, fetes and social events. This approach leads to positive impacts on student’s academic outcomes, their mental health, classroom behaviour, and relationships between teachers and students.

Together, we can lead the way in saying yes to respect and equality, and creating genuine and lasting change so that every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.

Myths and facts of RR&RR are also available on the website link above.
