Modern History In Action!

In VCE Modern History, students brought the Unit 1 topic of 'Social and Cultural Change' to life by creating evidence boards. Students had to research and present their boards, which explored how different groups of citizens lives changed during the 1930s.

Careers Expo

Last term, Year 9-12 students attended the Western Victorian Careers Expo. It was a great opportunity for students to explore pathway options and ask questions as they begin considering their future careers. Thank you to David Crooks and the Wimmera Southern Mallee LLEN for the wonderful organisation on the day and for providing this opportunity for our students.

Exploring Sustainability

After learning about sustainability and the features of eco-friendly housing, Year 9 Outdoor Education students had the opportunity to explore their creative side by designing and building their own mini eco houses. Using recycled and natural materials, they applied their knowledge of sustainable living to create unique and thoughtful designs. This hands-on activity allowed students to engage with real-world environmental concepts in a fun and imaginative way, encouraging problem-solving, collaboration, and innovation.

What's on at School!

Here is a wrap up of some highlights of the last week of Term 2 from Textiles, Science, Japanese and Sport!

As a wrap-up to their Food and Culture unit, Year 8 Japanese students gave eating with chopsticks a go. Those who had never used chopsticks were quite surprised by how much motor skill and concentration is required. However, after showing amazing perseverance, some of them were picking up M&Ms, which even Mrs Cross finds hard!

In Year 10 Science, students created quirky, colourful, and wonderfully diverse veggie offspring, each with a unique genetic makeup, just like in real life! These creative characters are not only a fun expression of student learning, but also a hands-on way to bring key genetic concepts to life. Using their understanding of dominant and recessive alleles, genotypes, phenotypes, and inherited traits, students determined the possible offspring from just two "veggie parents" and brought these babies to life!

Textiles students completed their projects! During the semester, Year 7 students explored design thinking and developed new sewing skills through their projects of canvas bags and 'ugly dolls'. Year 8/9 Textiles Elective students designed and made their own quilts and cosy dressing gowns.

Our Senior Boys Basketball team braved the fog and fierce competition in Ararat, earning themselves a spot in the semi-finals with strong performances across the day. Congratulations to all team members on their efforts throughout the day.

Carnival Games

Throughout Term 2, Year 8 Maths students studied the topic of chance and probability. Their term project involved students designing and building a carnival-style game. Before the carnival day, the students had to calculate the theoretical probability of each of the outcomes of their game.

In the last week of Term 2, Maths Carnival was held! Students played each other's games, won prizes and gathered data in order to calculate the experimental probabilities of their games. A great project incorporating maths, creativity and fun!

Congratulations!

We're proud to celebrate Archie (Year 8 ) for receiving a credit in the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) Competition! The CAT Competition is open to all students and gives participants the opportunity to develop their problem-solving skills through algorithmic thinking. Well done, Archie!
