Snow Camp 2025 – Bogong Outdoor School

During Week 1 of Term 3, nineteen excited Year 9 and 10 students embarked on the highly anticipated Snow Camp at Bogong Outdoor School. With recent snowfall creating perfect conditions and snow levels reaching 93cm at Falls Creek, the stage was set for an unforgettable experience.

Students experienced a full range of weather conditions during the camp — from rain and howling winds while cross-country skiing, to poor visibility and snowfall while downhill skiing, and finally, a perfect sunny morning on the last day.

They had the opportunity to immerse themselves in both cross-country and downhill skiing. While both activities were met with enthusiasm, downhill skiing quickly became the favourite. On the third day, students were able to choose their preferred activity, and many opted for another thrilling day on the chairlifts. They practised their snow ploughs, snow plough turns, and some even progressed towards parallel turns.

For many, this camp was their first time seeing snow and experiencing the joy of skiing. The excitement among the students was evident throughout the week.

A big thank you to Bogong Outdoor School and their fantastic staff for providing such a memorable experience. Special thanks also to Mr Tatchell for his support and participation in making the camp a success.

We hope this adventure has sparked a lasting interest in the alpine environment — one the students may choose to explore further in the future.
