Performing Arts News

From Dan, Patrick and Sam, Performing Arts Teachers
Little Fishies
Over the past two weeks our Molesworth performing arts students have been busy exploring rhythm, song, dance and drama. In music students have been playing with “sticks” using drumsticks on the floor and clapping rhythms together to practise keeping a steady beat and sharpen our coordination and listening. We also introduced the children to the classic novelty song Three Little Fishies. This playful tune tells the story of three adventurous fish who swim over a dam, have an exciting day out. Singing it has been a fun way to work on storytelling, memory, pitch and dynamics.
With ArtsFest not far away we have also been working on our pieces. Excitingly, every year level is doing their own performance and will contribute their own part to the story. The Grade 2s will be doing the Chinese folk tale The Magic Paintbrush, Grade 1s will be performing a tale from Anasi and the Preps will be taking us on a journey Under the Sea.
In drama we are preparing scripts for our shows and playing some drama focus activities that focus on collaboration, teamwork and problem solving. Here are some photos of some xylophone preparation for our performances in Term 4.
Hope you have a rocking fortnight NMPS!
