The wolves inside you

Two wolves

By Zuuyati 5D

Within this term, we have been looking at a book called ‘Two Wolves’. A motto that the author of Two Wolves has been inspired by is ‘There is two wolves inside you, one is bad and one is good, the one you feed is the one you pick’. The author has also made a book study on the keynote app for us to complete. We are currently making a news report about the Silver family who are on the run; the main character’s family. We were also looking at how to talk like a news reporter using a teleprompter feature on the Pages app. This book has been successful for us grade 5s.

Geography

By Vincent and Mahdi 5A

This term we started our geography sessions. It began with a round of Global, an online game where you have to guess a chosen country based off your prior knowledge and guesses. Our main focus for this term is learning about the geography of Australia and its neighbouring countries. We started off the first session by brainstorming our prior knowledge and listing the geographical contents of Australia and it's neighbouring countries. This included known landmarks, capital cities, states and territories, climate, and other facts we know about the geographical qualities of Australia’s states and territories.

Maths

By Sumi Phan 5C

Our class has been recently learning about labelling number lines with positive numbers, negative numbers, and decimals. Decimal number lines are crucial for developing a strong understanding of decimal numbers and their relationships. They provide a visual representation that enhances number sense and makes it easier to grasp concepts. Learning about number lines has also been helping me connect abstract mathematical concepts when transitioning from whole numbers to decimals. I find Math fun and informative. It is captivating and it reveals hidden structures and patterns in the universe around us.

Cooking

Chop! Splash! Crunch!

During Term 2, we were so fortunate to be able to participate in the Kitchen Garden Program and enjoy cooking classes with Erin.

To finish up and celebrate our last session, we did a vote on our favourite recipe and made it.

The winning recipe was pizza. We made dough, sauce and selected our favourite toppings.

We even had a (heated) debate on whether pineapple belongs on pizza!

The majority said no! We can’t wait to get back into the kitchen for one last time in Year 6!
