 Melbourne Museum Excursion

By Hugh

Grade 3s Trip to the Melbourne museum On Tuesday the 1st of July, grade 3 caught the 402 bus from Haines St to the Melbourne museum.

When we got to the museum, we saw 4 different exhibits.

The 1st exhibit we went to was the Forest Gallery. We saw caves, plants and animals. For instance, we found a patch of mushrooms that had a sign that said “mushroom season. Beware of mushrooms”. My favourite part was the big waterfall inside the awesome cave.

The 2nd exhibit was the First Peoples exhibit. We saw a map of Australia showing indigenous regions and how to say welcome in different languages. We also saw a platypus skin. My favourite part was the hut made of sticks that had a Bunjil light display.

The 3rd exhibit was the Melbourne Gallery. I saw the biggest nugget on earth called “Welcome Stranger”. We also saw Phar Lap the horse. My favourite thing i saw was the old fashioned Ute that we were able to sit in.

The 4th exhibit was the Bugs Alive exhibit. I saw all of these buttons that projected a sound or video of an insect when you pressed it and a bunch of life cycle of bugs with a magnifying glass so you could look up at it really, really close.

My favourite part was the movie of when these humongous bugs tried to take over all humanity. The trip was a really fun and an exiting experience. In the school holidays, I’m really looking forward to going to the Lego Star Wars exhibition!

3B's First Cooking Session

This week 3B enjoyed their first cooking session with our NMPS cooking teacher, Erin Reynolds.

They started off the session talking about kitchen safety and then tested their knowledge on some garden variety veggies and herbs by studying a few and trying to label ones they were familiar with.

The class got to make their own fruit and veggie version of their faces, where berries were commonly used to represent eyes. Some got creative and used flower petals as eyelashes or as part of their hair. In their cooking groups, 3B students practised table etiquette and ate their platters together at their table.

Next week the class look forward to cooking something delicious in the oven.
