This week is Science Week (Monday 10th- Friday 15th of August).

The Theme is ā€œDecoding the Universe: Exploring the Unknown with Nature’s Hidden Languageā€.

We will be celebrating the joy and wonder of science around the school with lots of scientific activities in the classrooms and in STEM.

This week, there are a number of free activities that are being held locally that you may be interested in checking out.

  • After School Kid's Club at Croydon Library – Slime Lab

    Tuesday 12th August / 4pm-5pm

    Croydon Library

    Come along with your family and dive into a super gooey, hands-on science session made just for kids up to 12 years old. You’ll get to mix, stretch, and squish slime while learning some cool science along the way. Try different recipes and play with fun materials.

  • Secrets of the Cardboard Rocket

    Wednesday 13th August / 5-5.45pm & 6-6.45pm

    Ajani Community Hall, Templestowe Lower

    Step inside the inflatable planetarium for an immersive journey through space. A National Science Week event, presented with the support of the Inspiring Victoria program. Explore the "Secret of the Cardboard Rocket" movie, then embark on a guided tour of the night sky, discovering stars, planets and constellations.

  • Buzz into Science

    Saturday 16th August / 10am-1pm

    The Basin Community House

    Meet a Beekeeper / Honey Tasting Station / Pollination Challenge / Build a Bee Hotel / Craft Corner: Make beeswax candles, paint bee rocks, or decorate your own bee mask to take home / Bee Science Station: Try mini-experiments like making "pollen dust", exploring how bees communicate with dance, and checking out real honeycomb.

  • Tiny Tenants - Buildings for bugs

    Sunday 17th August / 11am-12.30pm

    Central Ringwood Community Centre

    Perfect for families, kids, and curious minds of all ages, you’ll learn how our tiniest garden visitors — from bees to beetles — help pollinate plants, control pests, and support a healthy, biodiverse ecosystem. Enjoy light refreshments, build your own building for bugs, and get the chance to connect with like-minded community members.
