Dear Families, Students and Community Members,

A warm welcome back to Term 3! We hope you all had a restful and enjoyable holiday break and are feeling recharged for the busy and exciting term ahead.

Term 2 was certainly one to remember, packed with amazing events and heartfelt community spirit. A huge congratulations to everyone involved in our World’s Greatest Shave event — we proudly raised just under $5,000! A massive thank you goes out to all the families who contributed, and a very special shout-out to our brave participants, Tallain Connell, Cale Miles Pearse, Daniel Bianchi, Chris Sun, Shakked Cooper and teachers Michael Haber and Rob Bishop for stepping up for such a worthy cause.

We also hosted our Hoodie Up Day fundraiser, which helped raise $1165.15 for the Amaze charity, whose work supports individuals with Autism and their families. It was great to see so many students showing their support and awareness by wearing hoodies and generously donating to our Promotions and Fundraising committee led by Kyle McDonald and Angela Mihas.

Looking ahead, our Mordialloc College Student Council (MCSC) has been hard at work planning some exciting activities for Book Week, which we’ll celebrate in Week 5 this term. More information will be shared soon, but we encourage all students to get involved — there will be something for everyone!

Throughout this year, a dedicated group of students has been collaborating with local artist Merindah Gunya on the design of an Aboriginal mural. As soon as the weather clears up and we have a stretch of dry days, Merindah will be back on site to bring the student’s final design to life. We can’t wait to see it on the wall, and we’ll be holding an official opening later in the year to celebrate. You can see some of Merindah Gunya’s work on display in Southland.

Our Homegroup/Mentor program continues to be refined based on feedback from both students and staff, ensuring it remains relevant to our student cohort. We are incorporating the MyMahi platform into many lessons, allowing students to explore key areas of wellbeing, personal growth, careers and social skills development. These sessions are designed to support students in building resilience, self-awareness and positive relationships. A reminder to all families that payments for access to the MyMahi platform need to be made via Compass.

Below you can see some photos taken of our students working with the Mordi Weaving Group.

Currently, Bunurong House is in the lead in our House Points Competition — congratulations to them! Students and parents/carers can view house point totals on Compass. We encourage all students to continue displaying our school values both in and out of the classroom, and to be recognised for this through our house point system.

Attached below is the Rewards Shop, where students can choose their prizes. A big thank you to our Senior House Captains, who have played a key role in delivering these rewards and will continue spreading positivity throughout Term 3.

Finally, a school favourite is returning — our Mordi Idol competition will be held in the last week of this term! This is always a highlight, with students performing either solo or in small groups in a fun and supportive afternoon event. Start practising now and get ready to shine on stage!

Have a fantastic Term 3.
