NETBALL REPORTS
GRADE 6 NETBALL
This past Wednesday some grade 6 students got to go play netball at Red Energy arena. We played against many schools and had lots of fun. We loved that we had the opportunity to represent our school playing netball. We thank all the students that played and all the teachers that helped us out and coached us. Our mixed team played 6 games, and it was a fun experience to play against so many different schools.

GIRLS NETBALL REVIEW
We got onto the bus at 9:05 to go to the stadium. Our first game was up against Girton. We sadly lost this game but played well. After every game we had a 20 min break (which was how long a game was). We had a few losses, but we played great as a team. We won 1 and drew one.
Overall, the team played 7 games. We gradually got better as the games went on and had a great day with lots of fun. We thank Mr. Coates who organized it and the teachers who came along and supported us the whole time.

FOOTBALL
GIRLS REPORT
This year the girls played well in their footy carnival at Kennington primary School and won all their 5 games but sadly lost their grand final against St Therese's 19 v 1. Although they lost, they still made it to regionals in Swan Hill on Thursday the14th of August and will be catching a bus with St Therese’s at 7:30am. We will come back between 4:30pm and 5:00pm. Instead of a real footy game like the last carnival it will be a modified AFL 9 version. The rules still apply with helmets and mouth guards and the girls will get their guernseys and socks. All girls that are playing will have to fill out a PAM note to catch the bus and go.
And if you are taking your child home from the event, you will have to talk to the teacher to let them know. Hopefully they win, good luck girls.

BOYS REPORT
When we arrived at Kennington Primary, we found a good spot to sit down, then everybody unpacked their things and put their boots on. For the first round, we had a break, so we didn’t have to play. Mr. Coates then told everyone the rules of the day. After that, everybody just did their own thing, like kicking the footy or just hanging around.
The first game of the Football Carnival that Holy Rosary played was against White Hills Primary School. In the first half of the game Holy Rosary was winning by a few goals, but in the second half Holy Rosary didn’t score a goal and White Hills Primary kicked enough goals to put them in front and win the game.
After the game we had a 15-minute break, then we played against St Joseph’s. In the first half Holy Rosary was up by a couple of goals, but St Joseph’s came from behind and kicked enough goals to win the game.
Then we had another break after we played St Joseph’s. After that, we played Maiden Gully. In the first half, the score was very close, but Maiden Gully was in front. In the second half, we were doing great, but in the end, we ran out of gas and lost the game.
After Maiden Gully we had a back-to-back game against Kennington. At the start, they kicked a few goals to get in front of us, but after that, our defenders and midfielders did a great job of not letting them kick any more goals that half while being able to get some ourselves. In the second half, we did the same thing, but they managed to get past us and win the game.
We had a 1 game break and then played Marist, but the game was shortened to just one half of the game. In the second half Marist dominated the game and won it by many goals.
After the 4-game break, we played Spring Gully for our last game. In the first half, both teams had such amazing defense that both teams were goalless by the end of the first half. But in the second half, they got past us and won the game by 2 goals.

Some Important Information:
- We have been lucky enough to have CMC students assist at each event on the day.
- Your child is asked to wear their house colours for the day. If you are unsure of what your child’s colour is, please see your classroom teacher.
- Students need to bring a hat, water bottle and food for the day.
- There will be no canteen at the track, normal packed lunch for the students.
- Please sign and check your child's PAM note and refer to this for any further information.
The next level is the Catholic Schools Athletics Carnival, which will be held on Friday 29th August at the Flora Hill Athletics Track. Students in Grades 3 to 6 will be notified if they make this event. Please note that 9yr old students can only make it through in shot put, long jump, hurdles and 100m. Students finishing 1st & 2nd in each event will be offered a spot in those events for the Catholic Schools Carnival. However, each student can only compete in 3 individual events. Should they qualify for more than 3, they will have to choose their preferred events and then the spot is offered to the next highest finishing student. Thank you for your ongoing support!
