Around the Classrooms

Grade 1/2 K
It’s been wonderful to welcome everyone back and dive straight into an exciting term of learning!
We kicked things off last Friday with Grandparents and Special Friends Day. It was such a joy to see so many special guests join us for the school liturgy, followed by a lovely morning of crafts and shared stories in the classroom. Thank you to everyone who was able to come along and make the morning so memorable.
Here are some photos from the morning:
Maths
This week in Maths, students have been exploring the fascinating world of 2D and 3D shapes. The students were very eager to search our classroom for different shapes in our everyday environment. We have focused on using precise mathematical language, such as parallel, horizontal, vertical, vertices, angles, and edges, to describe and sort a variety of shapes. We have also been learning how to classify shapes as regular or irregular polygons.
Inquiry
Our Inquiry topic this term is ‘Change Over Time’. To begin our learning journey, students were encouraged to chat with their families about their backgrounds, how their parents or grandparents grew up, and any special family traditions. These conversations are helping to shape our understanding of personal and community history. This week, we’ve been busy building family trees and sharing family photos with our classmates. As the term progresses, we’ll explore changes in our local area, the history of our school, and how technology has transformed the way we live.
