Gotcha4Life  6Hr Row (x4) - Level 6 Event

Congratualtions to the six Level 6 students, Jack, Ari, Suleman, Joel, Beckett & JT, for the fantastic organisation of this community event. It was amazing to see students from Level 1-6 participating and as a school community, this initiative raised almost $2500.

In addition the Level 5/6 students listened to a short presentation on Youth Mental Health from a Gotcha4Life representative and from our key sponsor, CLUB LIME in Scoresby.

It is not too late to add your donation if you wish. Click on the QR code below or Jells Park PS Rowers - Gotcha4Life 24 Hour Row 2023 search for Jells Park PS Rowers, donate on the right side of the page.

School Stall

While on the subject of fundraising for a community organisation, well done to Level 4 students Catherine H, Airlea H, Yuna K & Claudia K for running a small stall at the canteen. The girls raised $31 which they have asked to be donated to WIRES, an organisation that support injured wildlife. Big things can come from small beginnings, so this is a great start girls.

School Grounds and Works

There has actually bee a bit of work going on in the school, even if some of it is not particularly noticable. We have had works on:

  • Cricket Nets - lifting the roof and repairing the sag in the netting.
  • Eaves replacement - outside the senior building entrances, the DigiTech room and around the ELC.
  • Plaster repairs - in the ELC, Level 2S and staffroom.
  • Gym Lights - rebooting the system so the lights work when they should.
  • Drainage - ongoing, but work around the ELC to determine why is keeps getting wet under the building.

And coming soon will be resurfacing of the ground on either side of the junior playground with artificial grass - this will help with keeping the ground clean and clear and reduce the trip hazards around the playground.

HATS - Term 4

Reminder that in Term 4 our Sun Safe Policy kicks in and it is an expectation that all students wear a school hat at recess and lunchtime. I know the weather has been pretty poor, but it will heat up soon and hats will be required. Please check that your child's hat meets the regulation - either broad rimmed or legionnaires style.

Thanks,

Naplan reports and Level 6 Student reports

At this time of the year we receive many requests from parents for copies of their child's Naplan results. Naplan results are often needed for scholarship or secondary college applications. Please be aware at a school level, we don't receive copies of the full Naplan reports. Parents are the only recipients of the full report, therefore it is important that these reports are stored carefully at home for future reference. If required, I am able to download a summary of results which is sometimes accepted by secondary schools.

I would also like to remind Level 6 parents that they must download their child's school reports from SENTRAL before the end of the 2023 school year. Once students leave primary school and move to a secondary school they will no longer have a profile on SENTRAL and as such parents will no longer have access to their child's school reports. If you have any questions don't hesitate to get in touch.

Have a lovely weekend.
