Bakers Shop Excursion

Last Wednesday, our Bakers shop class participated in an industry visit of Conway’s.

Students got a great insight into the business, what it entails to work there as a pastry chef and they discovered why it in fact isn’t classed as a bakery.

They have between 500-1000 customers through the doors each day and got to see first hand how efficient the staff work in a small space to make fresh instore each day all their items. Students watched items being prepared and looked at the ranges of pastry items, cakes and slices available as well as their rolls and sandwiches.

We would like to extend our thanks to Mick and Laura Conway for having us. The bakers shop class thoroughly enjoyed their morning tea there also!

Students have started working on the pastry component of the unit. They made home-made sausage rolls producing their own ‘rough Puff Pastry’. Students did an amazing job working through the lamination process!
