Principal's Report
Mr Rob Pyers | Principal
Welcome back to the start of Term 4.
World Teacher’s Day 2024
Thursday the 5th of October was World Teachers Day, and I would like to thank the amazing staff that we have at the College for their work to support our students to achieve success each and every day. The basis for our college’s success lies in the staff’s ability to work together with students and parents/carers and to live our values.
Parent Opinion Survey Results
The results for the recent Parent Opinion Survey have arrived and on behalf of the College, I would like to thank the 220 families who responded. This is the highest number of families who have responded to the survey and the results are reflective of the ongoing positive relationship we have with families and the work that is taking place.
The table below is a brief summary of the key highlights of the survey:
CRITERIA | POSITIVE | NEUTRAL | NEGATIVE |
General satisfaction | 83 % | 11 % | 6% |
School Pride and Confidence | 88% | 8% | 4% |
High expectation for success | 85% | 11 % | 4% |
Promoting positive behaviour | 78% | 17% | 5% |
Stimulated Learning Environment | 79% | 14% | 7% |
Respect for diversity | 84% | 13 % | 3% |
Staff will continue to unpack this feedback along with student and staff feedback as a part of our planning for 2024.
Year 12 VCE & VCE-VM
The College’s Year 12 VCE and VCE -VM students will complete their final classes on Tuesday 17th of October.
I want to acknowledge the students’ efforts and the way they have represented the College, not only this year, but throughout their time at school. Students should be extremely proud of their efforts, and the way they have collaborated with their teachers to succeed in the completion of their studies, but also in setting themselves up for success with their post-school pathways, whether that be in employment of further studies.
On behalf of the College community, I want to wish our score VCE students sitting exams all the best and hope that your efforts are reflected in your results and that you all achieve your goals.
Thank you also to the teachers who have supported the students not only this year but throughout their time at Horsham College.
Child Safe Standards
The Victorian Government requires that all schools incorporate the new Child Safe Standards to further strengthen child safety. The new standards recognise the critical importance of families and the broader school community in maintaining and promoting child safety and wellbeing.
Horsham College is in the process of reviewing and updating our child safety policies and procedures to ensure they meet the requirements of the new standards. These are available to view at the Horsham College Website > School Life > Policies.
We are committed to continuous improvement in our approach to child safety and wellbeing and welcome feedback from families and members of our school community on ways we can further strengthen our child safety policies, procedures, and practices.
If you have any suggestions, comments, or questions, please contact a member of the Principal Class.
