Nicolle Yong, Master of Counselling student

We have a Master of Counselling Student starting at CJC tomorrow- Nicolle Yong. Nicolle’s days onsite will be a Tuesday and Thursday. She will be continuing into 2024.

Nicolle will spend some time in classrooms over the next 2 weeks to get to know staff and students. Photo of Nicolle is attached.

The following introduction from Nicolle will be put in the newsletter this week for parents. Once interested parents have been in contact with the Wellbeing team, we will send out consent. We will keep staff informed about timetables, students being seen etc.

A word from Nicolle

I'm Nicolle, an international student enrolled in the Master of Counselling course at Monash University and I'm extremely excited to be starting my placement at Caulfield Junior College. As someone who aspires to be committed to the success of others, I really enjoy talking to people and supporting them in their journeys in life. I find this line of work very fulfilling because it allows me to do just that!

To me, it is important that we foster emotional health from a young age to equip children with their own personal toolkits to navigate their challenges and prioritise their well-being. As such, I look forward to being able to provide the students of CJC with a safe and nurturing space to share their stories and troubles with me.

In my free time, I enjoy baking, arts and crafts. These creative outlets typically provide me with a therapeutic escape, which I hope to incorporate into my counselling practice as a means of connecting with the students. I look forward to working alongside the team in ensuring their well-being!

Please contact Shauna Sanderson or Matilda Bedendo in the Wellbeing team for further information and a consent form.
