Careers and Employment Expo

On Friday the 18th August, our Year 11 VCE-VM students attended the Victorian Careers and Employment Expo at the Melbourne Convention Centre. The students had the opportunity to explore a wide range of job and career opportunities throughout the day. These ranged from displays and information on gaining an apprenticeship - Apprenticeships Victoria, working with the Police Force, working in the film and gaming industry, a career in the Defence Force and so much more. Well done to the students who attended and took part in this very worthwhile experience.

Declan Selby

One of our Year 12 Students was also invited to take part in the Victorian Careers and Employment Expo. Declan had been selected to compete in the Australian Worldskills National Championships and Skills Show by his TAFE provider. Over three days, Declan had to set up and install a hot water service, including all the water and gas connections. We are very proud of Declan’s achievements. Well done, Declan!

Year 12 VCAL/VCE-VM Fundraising and Awareness Projects:

Throughout Term 3, the Year 12 VCAL students have been researching an issue, investigating an associated support organisation and finally planning a fundraiser, donation drive or awareness campaign, to meet their outcomes for PDS.

The students should be extremely proud of all their hard work in organising these events. We have had an enormous amount of success with all the activities.

1. Athletics BBQ and drinks stall, raised over $880 for Beyond Blue.

2. Choc Chip Cookie stall, raised over $150 for the RSPCA.

3. Breakfast of egg and bacon rolls and juice, raised over $315 for Beyond Blue.

4. Donation Drive for period products for ‘Share the Dignity’.

5. Donation Drive for non-perishable food for ‘The Salvos’.

6. Out of uniform day for the Year 12 students to raise money for ‘Zaidee’s Foundation’ – an organisation to help raise awareness for the need for organ donations.

Year 12 VCAL/VCE-VM Presentation Night:

Thursday 7th September, saw our Year 12 VCAL students attend their final presentation evening. The students had been working on an extended presentation in WRS to meet their outcomes for Skills for Further Study. The students were required to formally present a ten minute speech and accompanying visual display, on their educational journey up to now and into the future, to their parents, friends, teachers and peers. The students should be extremely proud of their efforts in completing this challenging task. We had many comments from the audiences saying how well they had presented and how impressed they were with the effort the students had shown. Well done to the VCAL graduating class of 2023. We wish you every success in the future.
