Foundation

Last Friday we made some Chocolate Crackles for the cake stall for Saturday's voting day.

We used Rice Bubbles, coconut, icing sugar, cocoa, and copha. We mixed up all the ingredients in a big bowl and then spooned the mixture into patty pans. We put them in the fridge to set. We then wrote down the ingredients and a sentence in our workbooks to practice our handwriting. We were a bit sad that we couldn't eat them but we enjoyed a little taste!

Year 1/2

While the Foundation students were busy making some delicious Chocolate Crackles to sell at the cake store on Referendum Voting Day, the the Year 1/2s made some scrumptious Honey Joys. While following the procedure, the students discussed the structure, ingredient measurements and various verbs used in the method.

Year 2/3

We are learning how to play T-Ball. There are 2 teams - one team is he batting team, and the other team is the fielding team. The batting team has o hit the ball and then run to a cone. But if the fielding team catches the ball, the person batting is out. Everybody has to have a turn before you swap. At first some of us felt a bit nervous because we were scared to go out. But we all enjoyed the game.    Laura and Katalina

In Sport with James, we are learning to play T-Ball. Each of us had a turn to hit the ball and be a fielder. We really enjoyed playing T-Ball.    Kushi and Chloe B.

On Wednesday we played T-Ball with James. It was a really fun game to play. James told us all the rules of the game. I really like to bat the ball and see how far it can go. I like trying to catch the ball too because I like to run around.    Arvin

T-Ball is similar to Base Ball. It's a lot of fun how you get to hit a ball with a bat. The ball is on top of a T base. T-Ball is really fun to play, it is kind of like Base Ball. It was hard to run to the top cone because there were a lot of fielders on the field. There are 3 cones in the game; the white one is worth one point, the red cone is for two points and the third one (blue) is worth three points. The white is the closest to the batter and the blue cone is the furthest to the batter. I like to play T-Ball.    Tristan

Helping Hands

By Fortunato C

Sometimes I accept help but most of the time I can do it myself. I always help my family, my friends and anyone else that needs help at all that is in need.  Sometimes I help my brother with anything that he needs help with because I am more mature,  because I am the older one.

(I’m thankful for help from these people)

Mum. Each time I get homework and I need help I ask my mum and she tells me a way to find out the answer instead of not helping me. Dad. Each time I don’t understand something that someone says (that kids can know.) I ask him and he almost always knows what it means and tells me.

(I can ask these people to help me out)

Mum/Dad. Everytime I need help I can ask my Mum/Dad and they would always helps me out.

(I helped these people)

Sister. When I was playing a game with my sister, she was getting bullied and I defeated the bully in the game that I was playing and he left. Friends. One of my friends that I helped was Glendon. I helped because he didn’t understand a question and I helped him understand the question.

I appreciate help from my big brother because when my parents don’t help me with things, such as my homework,  he is always by my side to help me . Sometimes I can find him annoying but he will always be there to support me.

I can ask help from Rose-Lee if I need help in Reading and Math and she’s also one of my favourite LSO’s and I’m so happy that I get to spend my last year with her.

One person I have helped is Sheen. One moment that I have helped Sheen is when we were learning some of the dances for our performance and she came up to me and she asked if I could teach her some of the moves. So then we spent lunch time practicing it.

I picked my sister because she goes to get the groceries or goes outside to play with me. She really gets me because I spend more time with her and bond with her more and she’s really cool with me. She also has great sense of humour which I really like, it’s the best quality a person can have in my opinion.

Sheen I'm thankful for help from Hansvi because of one specific incident where I lost my hat at the start of the year. We spent at least 10 minutes finding my hat, as it somehow slipped under the art room door and we had no idea how it got there. She spent the time helping me find my hat.

On Saturday when I  went into my classroom in Chinese school I sat down and didn’t think much, until i reached into my bag to get my textbook and it wasn’t there. I was anxious and didn’t know what to do. My dad went into my classroom and gave me my textbook even though we live twenty minutes from home.He saved the day really because my assignment was in it and I would’ve got an F if I didn’t hand it in.

During Wellbeing My class and I were asked to pick a star or a hand. I picked the star and the genre was “Stars Don’t Go Alone!” Basically our task was answering who we would appreciate help from, who we seek help from and who we give help to. We then picked a moment from when we needed help.

My moment was when I was talking to my grandmother and I had a dilemma. My dilemma was that my mum and I were going to a Ghanaian party and we had to get a gift. In the description it said “no gifts, please.” But knowing Ghanians they want a gift. So I was asking my grandmother, “What gift should I get?” I told her it had to be unique and thoughtful and in five minutes she gave me a suggestion. And I thought it was amazing. The Gift was an 18k Gold Pendant of Ghana.

Thanks  to her I didn’t have to worry about the gift anymore and I appreciated the help.

Why I put my Aunty Katyln on my Helping hands is because once I got scared and she helped me feel better. Why I put my Sister Eva on my Helping hands is because I helped her with her work. And lastly I put Bhavin because he helped me learn how to play Pokemon Emerald.

One person I am grateful for helping me is my mum. One time my mum has helped me was when I was confused about some math problems and didn’t  know how to work it out. I asked my mum and she explained and showed me how to do it. Even when she told me I was still confused so she told me again until I understood it.

I am thankful for help from my dad because he taught important life skills that I will use a lot in the future.

I can ask my cousin’s for help because I trust them a lot and they help me a lot of the time.

Appreciate Help ~ I am grateful for my parents' help because they give me food and shelter every day. I appreciate my friends' help, especially when it comes to sports and mathematics.

Seek Help ~ I look to my grandparents, teachers, and parents for advice on what to do. Whenever I need help these people are the first priorities to ask

Give Assistance ~ I help my younger cousins because they don't always behave well and I have to act as an example for them as an older cousin.  Ethan
