Upcoming Cocurricular Opportunities

Term Four presents some exciting opportunities for our students. There will be a number of Athletics and sporting carnivals, young writers workshops, swimming lessons and musical and ensemble performances.

 

Families in the Secondary School will also begin to receive information about 2024 Camps particularly those students in Year Nine and Year Ten in 2024. Camps are such a fantastic way to build cohesion within a cohort and to challenge our students that are simply not possible in the classroom. We look forward to working with families to make each student’s camp experience a rewarding one.

 

The easing of COVID restrictions has made the planning of intrastate, interstate and international travel possible. Recently a group of students travelled to Melbourne for a Digital Technologies Tour. We extend our thanks to Mr Kieran Bailey (Head of IT Services & Teacher) and Mr Josh Pitman (Technical Services Officer) for their planning and preparation for this tour. 

 

Please see the information below outlining two upcoming opportunities for our students:

Year Nine – St George’s College – Expressions of Interest

Year Nine families will receive an email shortly inviting expressions of interest to attend the St George’s College – Year Nine Tour. Places on this tour a strictly limited. Students will be asked to submit a short (150 words maximum) statement on the reason they wish to attend the 2023 St George’s College Tour.

 

We are excited to be able to offer the St George’s College – Year Nine Tour again this year. This is a week-long programme combining education, culture and fun. Participants will widen their friendship group and be mentored by young scholars whilst learning a little more about Western Australia and College Life. During the week students’ will get a taste of university college life.

 

Dates: The Tour runs from Tuesday 28 November until Saturday 2 December. Information about departure and arrival times will be confirmed closer to travel dates.

Cost: The anticipated cost of the tour is $750 which includes all meals, accommodation, transportation, and entry costs to all venues.

Accommodation: Student’s will be roomed in single college rooms with shared bathrooms.

Itinerary: Some of the highlights include visiting different locations in Perth (final programme is to be confirmed by St George’s College), a College Formal Dinner and Activities run by College Mentors.

Years Six, Seven and Eight (2024) – Japan Tour

We are seeking expressions of interest from students currently in Years Five, Six and Seven who would like to join a School Tour to Japan in Term Four, 2024. The tour would depart Friday 22 November 2024 from GSG and return to GSG on Tuesday 3 December 2024. An information letter will be provided to parents with the expression of interest link next week and there will be an information session in Week Three, Thursday 26 October. Please keep a look out for further information.
